Refined 1960s style, 21st century innovations and the current trend of living in an ecological environment close to nature. It may seem incompatible but a great apartment in the outstanding new apartment building complex "Sun Terraces" is surprisingly transformed into… a stylish Jurmala summerhouse with its special atmosphere, and moreover, a super modern level of comfort. The idea of the “summerhouse” has been executed with diverse means – starting from painted ash wood doors, board floors, printed wallpaper, and refined visually lightweight 1960s style furniture. This 104 m2 two bedroom show apartment is located in Jurmala, not far from the beach.
The interior design concept for the Jurmala apartment-summerhouse is based on the patchwork principle. The traditional patchwork or textile mosaic technique is manifested through the creation of a completely new work of art from many different pieces, fragments, motifs and drawings, with an individual gamma of colours, texture and atmosphere. For example, the various types of wallpaper in the apartment’s wall finish, which are unevenly glued onto the walls, space by space, in an unusual composition.
The main element organising the apartment-summerhouse space is the unusual wooden partition wall. This free-standing openwork system divides the living space into two zones. On the one side is the kitchen, containing lots of different cupboards and drawers. On the other is the rest area - shelves and niches, the biggest of which contains a television. Not obscured by the heavyweight furniture, the walls are lined with paintings, lighting fixtures and various decorative elements. The kitchen is slightly divided from the living area. All the necessary kitchen fittings are concealed behind the white facade of the elegant kitchen furniture. The reflections of the polished surface lights accentuate a feeling of lightness and cleanliness.
Despite the unusual design concept and the Jurmala summerhouse atmosphere, the apartment in the "Sun Terraces" is a proper and comfortable family home, which generates a pleasant and summery mood throughout the year.
