Chanel, Breitling, Breguet, Van Cleef &Arpels, Mikimoto, H.Stern are just some of the exclusive jewellery and watch brands represented by the Dimax boutique. A fitting location in Riga has been created for these world famous brands. Drawing parallels, the appearance of the boutique's interior could be compared to a patiently refined and polished precious stone, whose every facet glows in an unexpected light. “Exquisite items must be exhibited in a fitting environment,” asserts the project’s main designer Karīna Ābiķe.
Firstly, the functional plan was dictated by the narrow and long non-standard layout space with ceilings over 4 m high. The most appropriate composition for the interior was deemed to be the enfilade principle reminiscent of historical palaces, dividing the space into several segments with a clearly structured exposition. The overall tonality is nuanced in delicate champagne and beige pastel tones. Polished grey granite floor creates a contrast generating silhouetted reflections of ornate Venetian chandeliers. Furniture details add fine graphic accents to the overall image. The atmosphere generated in the space is gently uplifting and unusual. Regal Barovier&Toso chandeliers catch the eye. They have been symmetrically arranged along the central axis of the room. The showcases have been specially designed for this interior, and were custom-made by the Italian masters at Grande Arredo. They create a discrete indoor environment concealed from the curious gazes of passersby. The decorative wall paintwork with drawings of pearls is arranged into vertical fields and, visually, is a continuation of the showcase silhouettes. Masterful handicraft executed using the artists’ individual media gives the walls a picturesque value of their own and a poetic note.
The magic of the room and concurrently its intrigue are concealed in the apparent illusion that another surprise awaits you behind every niche. For VIP clients, there is special room deep inside the gallery, which one does not notice at first. The small VIP room has an even more intimate atmosphere – a plush rug has been chosen for the surface of the floor. The room’s central accent is a round table with chairs. Its surface is covered a thin goatskin, then varnished and polished. Associatively, the form of the chair backrests reminds one of the curves of rings and earrings. In this discrete oasis, a contemporary design mirror by Philip Starck blends in perfectly with the slightly decadent atmosphere.
